Summertime is here and the NorCal Buffs are headed to Sonoma! Break out those sun-dresses and shorts, pack a picnic, and prepare for a day of fun in the sun tasting and touring at 3 of Sonoma’s most famous wineries. We will start the trip with a tram tour of the Benzinger grounds and our first tasting of the day. Next, we will relocate to Imagery Estate to taste a variety of their fine wines. We will wrap up the day with a visit to the picturesque Viansa Winery for wine tasting, lunch at their Marketplace, and Bocce Ball before heading back to San Francisco. Buffs and friends of Buffs are all welcome! Grab your friends and fellow wine enthusiasts for this not-to-be-missed summer event!

Early Discount ticket prices were extended through Friday, August 5th, so now is the time to buy! Seats are limited! We will meet at Crissy Field to board the wine tour bus. Parking is available for free in this location with no restrictions. We will visit three wineries on the tour and stop for lunch, tasting, and even Bocce Ball along the tour!

NorCal Buffs are cordially invited to The Donald Strickland Foundation’s First Annual Celebrity Weekend and Golf Tournament in San Francisco, CA

The Donald Strickland Foundation hosting a celebrity weekend in San Francisco, CA on July 8th and July 9th, 2011. The weekend extravaganza kick-off Friday, July 8th with a celebrity meet and greet, followed by a golf tournament at TPC Harding Park and a celebrity gala on Saturday, July 9th. All events will be hosted by NFL veteran Donald Strickland, a former Colorado Buffaloes football player and current San Diego Charger, and invited celebrity guests. Your participation in the Celebrity Weekend will benefit the Donald Strickland Foundation and its efforts in “Taking the Corner Back.” The primary focus of the Foundation is to keep student athletes on track for success by strengthening the importance of education in the lives of young, aspiring student athletes in the San Francisco Bay Area.

The Donald Strickland Foundation, in alliance with other non-profit organizations, is creating programs for mentoring, tutoring, training, and developing the life skills for qualified student athletes. Annually, the Foundation will provide a one year renewable scholarship to a college preparatory high school for selected candidates.

As a native of San Francisco and former Colorado football player, Donald Strickland has been impacting the San Francisco community since his youth growing up in the San Francisco Bay View District. Strickland attended Archbishop Riordan High School where he was a dedicated student and a standout athlete. With the guidance of his family and mentors, Donald was able to find balance between education and sports at a very early age. Strickland attended the University of Colorado as a student-athlete and he was a key part in the Buffaloes’ run to a Big XII Championship in 2001. Strickland graduated with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He was drafted 2003 and debuted for the Indianapolis Colts. Strickland has played football for the San Francisco 49ers and recently the San Diego Chargers, among others.

 5 pm to 7 pm – Game Ticket Pick-Up - Pikc-Up your ticket to the game tomorrow, June 3rd at Nova Bar (555 2nd Street, San Francisco, CA 94107) between 5 pm and 7 pm.  You do not need to bring anything with you to pick-up your tickets.

If you cannot make it to Nova Bar before 7 pm, please email katie@norcalbuffs.com to arragne to have your ticket placed at Will Call at AT&T Park.  Nore that we must know by 12 pm tomorrow, JUne 3rd if you need your ticket placed at Will Call.  Tickets will be available at Will Call after 6 pm and will require an ID for pick-up.

5 pm to 7 pm – Pre-Game Happy Hour at Nova Bar - The NorCal Buffs are looking forward to seeing you at Nova Bar to enjoy a drink before the big game.  Nova will be serving $3 Coors Lights and $5 Svedka vodka drinks to all NorCal Buffs and friends of Buffs.  Bring your friends and come for a drink to mingle with fellow Alumn whether you have a ticket to the game or not!

7:15 pm – First Pitch at AT&T Park – The COLORADO Rockies take on the WORLD CHAMPION SAN FRANCISCO GIANTS on Friday, June 3, 2011 at AT&T Park.  Join your fellow CU alumni room on the team of your choice, either the Giants or the Rockies!  Remember to wear your Colorado Buffalo gear!

The Colorado Buffaloes are coming to San Francisco on Tuesday, May 17th from 5:30 to 7:30 pm at Gordon Biersch.  A limited number of tickets remain available.  Purchase your ticket today for only $10 to reserve your spot!  Don’t miss the CU Buffs on the first ever Pac-12 Tour!  Online registration available at www.CUBuffs.com/tickets 

The COLORADO ROCKIES will be in San Francisco to take on the WORLD CHAMPION SAN FRANCISCO GIANTS on Friday, June 3, 2011. First pitch is at 7:15 p.m. Join your fellow CU alumni root on the team of your choice, either the Giants or the Rockies!

Early Discount Tickets are on sale for $26.  There will be a pre-game party at a nearby location at 5 p.m.

Be sure to purchase your tickets by Saturday, April 30th as ticket prices increase to $30 on May 1st.  Tickets will only be available in the NorCal Buffs ticket block in the Left Field Bleacher Section for a limited amount of time.

All proceeds from ticket sales go directly to the NorCal Buffs Chapter Scholarship Fund that provides academic scholarships to Bay Area students attending the University of Colorado on an annual basis.
