SF Watch Party Location Has Changed

For 2009, the San Francisco watch party will move to The Pub at Ghirardelli Square (Website). The manager has agreed to let us fly the CU flag all season and has been awesome in working with us on great beer, drink and food specials for the season. For those wondering, Jones Sports Bar has been purchased and will not be open for our starting game so we had to make the change. We are looking forward to a great next season!

The Pub is located at 851 Beach St (between Polk and Larkin) in San Francisco. Phone number 415.351.0500. Transportation is easy, just hop on the 30 from the Marina or North Beach, else parking is available and can be validated for up to 2 hours.

For other NorCal regions - Sacramento, Fresno, San Jose, Walnut Creek, Tahoe – let us know if you are interested in coordinating a place to watch the games and we will help you get the word out!

Recap of last weeks game, courtesy of cubuffs.com:

BOULDER – Cody Hawkins rallied Colorado to a 28-24 win over Iowa State on Saturday, and the Buffaloes’ defense held the Cyclones on the 1-yard line as time expired.

Hawkins, who took over for a struggling Tyler Hansen in the second half, threw for 226 yards and four touchdown passes, two of which went to Scotty McKnight.

The Cyclones (2-8, 0-6 Big 12) drove the ball down to the 1 with 3 seconds remaining, but Alexander Robinson was stuffed by Daniel Dykes and Jimmy Smith for a loss.

It was the Cyclones’ eighth straight defeat!!!

The Buffaloes (5-5, 2-4) trailed 24-13 after Robinson’s 1-yard touchdown run with 9:14 remaining, but Hawkins threw a 14-yard strike to Williams. Colorado converted the 2-point try to make it a 24-21 contest with just over 7 minutes remaining.

SF Watch Party vs Missouri and Upcoming Events

November Events to mark on your calendar
1st & 2nd – San Francisco Ski and Snowboard Fest by Snowbomb
13th - Golden State Warriors vs. Chauncey Billups and the Detroit Pistons Alumni Night

San Francisco Watch Party at Jones – 3:30pm

This weekend your Colorado Buffaloes take on the No. 15 ranked Missouri Tigers in a game that will most definitely be action packed. Game time for Saturday’s game will be at 3:30 PDT, and your alumni club will be meeting at Jones Bar once again to cheer on the Buffs. A year ago Missouri came to Boulder and buried the Buffs 55-10 in an avalanche of 48 unanswered points. It was the third-worst home loss in CU history, this game will be at Missouri and with the Buffs still struggling with holes in their Offensive line we will need to stay focused on protecting both Hansen and Hawkins.

Drink / Food Specials
$10 Coors Light and Bud Light Pitcher
$14 Blue Moon Pitchers
$13 Bud or Bud Light Buckets
$5 Margaritas
$5 Yeager Bombs
$10 Burger, fries and beer combs

Recap of last weeks game, courtesy of ESPN:

Colorado (4-3, 1-2) broke a three-game skid with a 14-13 win over visiting Kansas State last Saturday and shook up an offense that ranks last in the Big 12. The Buffaloes brought in freshman quarterback Tyler Hansen in the first quarter to split time with sophomore and two-year starter Cody Hawkins.

Hansen, who Colorado was planning to redshirt this season, threw a 21-yard touchdown pass to Scotty McKnight in the second quarter and also rushed 19 times for 86 yards.

“We just looked at where we were on offense and what it is we needed to do and what we thought we could do,” Buffaloes coach Dan Hawkins said. “We felt like his athleticism at quarterback was going to give us another dimension, and it did.”

The quarterbacks combined to go 13-for-25 for 106 yards with a touchdown and an interception, but freshman running back Rodney Stewart carried most of the load, rushing a season-high 29 times for 141 yards and a touchdown.

Missouri has won three of the last four games over Colorado and has taken the last two meetings at home. Last season, the Tigers won 55-10 in Boulder as Daniel passed for a then-career high 421 yards and tied his own school record with five touchdowns. Tight end Chase Coffman caught three of those TDs, and wide receiver Jeremy Maclin had 108 yards and a score.

Watch Party – CU vs Kansas State @ Jones

A special thanks to those BUFFS that came bright and early for last weekend’s morning game. After a three-game skid, CU is 3-3 overall and winless (0-2) in the Big 12 Conference. Three home and three road games remain, with six wins needed to become bowl eligible. On Saturday, the Buffs will be taking on the Kansas State Wildcats currently (4-2) and (1-1) in the Big 12. Right now the BUFFS are 3 pt favorites to win, so let’s cheer them on!

CU’s coaches, senior center Daniel Sanders said, have underscored the weight of Saturdays game and the following five like this: “It’s a one-game playoff every week, starting this week. We have to go, we have to keep ourselves above .500 and get things turned in the right direction.”

Watch Party: We will be back at Jones Bar in the Marina this week, game time is 4:00 PDT
