CU’s last regular season game for the year brings our arch rival Nebraska back to Boulder for an early morning game beginning at 9:00 AM (pacific standard time.) on Friday 23 Nov 2007.
The Buffs bowl hopes have come down to this last game! The Buffs are sitting at 5-6 (3-4 Big XII) and have not beaten a Big XII North team this year. Nebraska (5-6, 2-5) is in the same scenario and needs a win over the Buffs to be eligible for a bowl game as well. So this game is our season!
CU’s last game against Iowa State (3-9, 2-6) ended in controversy as both of Eberhart’s field goal kicks (50 and 55 yards) to tie the game in the final seconds were called back for a penalty (50 yarder) and snapping the ball before the ball was called into play (55 yarder). The 2nd field goal try of 55 yards was called back as time expired due to the official not calling the ball into play. The center snapped the ball with 1 tick on the clock and Eberhart made it, but the referees ruled that the ball was not officially in play (no whistle).
Unbeaten Kansas (11-0, 7-0) and one loss Missouri (10-1, 6-1) will play this coming Saturday. The winner will represent the Big XII North in the Big XII Championship game against either Oklahoma (9-2, 5-2) or Texas (9-2, 5-2) on Saturday 1 Dec 2007 in San Antonio, TX.
The last time CU beat Nebraska was in 2004 and the Buffs are due for another win! Although Nebraska’s season has been up and down all year, they have made a smart quarterback change to Joe Ganz which opened up their offense to a 73-31 victory over the Kansas State Wildcats (5-6, 3-5) on 10 Nov 2007. CU’s pass defense will need to step up to slow down Ganz’s passing game!
The game will be televised on ABC and will be on the big screen at Bayside Sports Bar at 9:00 AM sharp! http://baysidesportssf.com/
